Microdermabrasion is one of the best modern skin treatment inventions. Here at Skin Tonics Beauty & Skin Clinic in Sydney’s Narellan, it’s one of our most popular treatments.
What Is Diamond Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a deeply exfoliating treatment. It was originally invented for the treatment of scarring. The beauty therapist will use a hand piece which is attached to a machine. The handpiece tip is abrasive and as the beauty therapist moves the handpiece over the skin, the tip removes excess dead cell build up which is then vacuumed up into a waste container by the machine.
Is diamond microdermabrasion painful?
The machine vacuum and the tips can be adjusted to suit specific skin types. Microdermabrasion should not feel painful. It feels more intense than basic exfoliation and there might be slight discomfort but it should not be painful. Most people actually feel a sense of satisfaction at the end of a microdermabrasion treatment because the treatment felt more intense than a basic treatment.
What can you expect after a diamond microdermabrasion treatment?
Immediately after a diamond microdermabrasion treatment the skin will feel silky smooth. The skin will appear more brighter radiant. If the treatment was a little intense for a specific skin, the skin may appear flushed for 2 hours. Most skin recover immediately and if redness is a concern we can apply a soothing mask to settle the skin following the treatment. Most skins recover completely 24 hours after the treatment.
How many diamond microdermabrasion treatments should you have?
Most people enjoy just one treatment for a quick pick-me-up and skin rejuvenation. However microdermabrasion is mostly recommended to improve skin conditions such as open pores, scarring, pigmentation, blackheads, wrinkles and ageing. In this case we recommend a course of treatments. Some people may need 2 courses of treatments. A course of treatment is 5-6 treatments performed weekly. At the end of the course of treatments, a monthly diamond microdermabrasion is recommended to maintain results.
What can you do to get the most out of your diamond microdermabrasion treatments?
We recommend you start with The Sothys Energizing intensive treatment to kickstart the skin rejuvenation process one week before you commence the course of microdermabrasion treatments. After you finish your course of microdermabrasion treatments, we recommend you have the Sothys Hydra3 intensive treatment to restore hydration and radiance. During your course of microdermabrasion treatments, we recommend you use quality skincare and add a good vitamin c serum to boost results. We recommend the Sothys Ultra-C dermobooster.
